Attorney Jane Hogan is a native of Hammond, Louisiana, and a graduate of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University in 2005, majoring in Russian Area Studies.

From 2006 through 2008, Jane lived in Bogota, Colombia, studied Spanish at the National University, and taught English at a local elementary school.

In 2013, Jane earned a Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at the Louisiana State University, focusing her studies on criminal law and receiving the CALI award in her Punishment and Post-Conviction seminar.

During law school, Jane worked as a law clerk for criminal defense attorney James E. Boren. After she completed her studies, Jane moved to Lafayette and worked as a public defender in the 15th Judicial District Court. In Lafayette, Jane represented mostly indigent juveniles and mothers in Child in Need of Care proceedings and authored approximately 50 writs and appeals stemming from both juvenile and adult felony cases.

In 2016, Jane graduated from Gideon’s Promise, a three-year training program for public defenders and criminal defense attorneys. In addition to her private practice, Jane is a supervising attorney for the LSU Parole and Reentry Clinic at the LSU Law Center.

Jane is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state courts, the Middle and Eastern District of Louisiana, and the Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
